BRIEF 13: DISCOVER - Visual Research

Me and Lisa both decided that one focal area for us to investigate was lines. It seems to be playing a key roll in all of our research and we also connected it with the links to light, and how light is projected in beams. A light beam or beam of light is a directional projection of light energy radiating from a light source. Sunlight forms a light beam (a sunbeam) when filtered through media such as clouds, foliage, or windows. To artificially produce a light beam, a lamp and aparabolic reflector is used in many lighting devices such as spotlights, car headlights, PAR Cans and LED housings. Light from certain types of laser has the smallest possible beam divergence.

Both me and Lisa really liked this petrol effect created. The reflect of light is really unique and the striking colours are eye catching, vibrant and fun. We have thought about using something similar within our own brief, however one major thing we will need to consider is cost. The comity have a very limiting budget for the branding, so covering the cost of photography might not be possible.

Lines are a fundamental aspect of our research. We both really like how these rainbow lines flow around the entire room and think this could really work. This effect could be created from using fluorescent tape or string however this could also be really difficult to produce effectively.
