BRIEF 13: DEFINE - Concept #1

For the first idea Lisa decided to focus heavily on type. She used bright colours to engage the audience and famous quotes about light to emphasise the focal aspect of the festival itself. The design is simple and eye-catching to draw attention of the audience. The layout is clear and easy to read. The content is accessible and works well. However, We didn't feel as though this is as fun as we had hoped and certainly didn't represent that the festival was at night, so therefore we have decided to further our concept. We wanted to make a new design that captured the 'fun' essence of the event and also still carrying many of the smart and legible aesthetics of this design.

We thought the colours were fun, yet very consistent throughout and but feel we could be more fun with this if we developed this further. For each idea we have produced a typeface and colour way boards, along with a proposed programme, map, flyer and poster layout to show how each design would work across different printed ephemera. Below are the examples of the programme and the map. We feel these are the weakest element of this concept as they are not exciting. The flyer and poster work much better using famous quotes and phrases about light as the content:

We will also need to consider how the design itself will work on screen, complimenting the printed design and carrying many of the same aesthetics. One aspect of the design that we felt worked all was the two tones of the type giving a dimension. We would like to cary this through into a further developed solution is possible. Here are some examples of the design across different printed material:
