For this concept I really wanted to make the posters feel like part of the environment and become part of the lighting that we see in the city. Using black backgrounds with circled typography inspired by LED lights of city make the design feel part of the city.
We had initially decided loosely on the name Lux, however we didn’t know if they audience we really understand this name it’s quite abstract. We therefore chose then Trio instead to reference the coming together of three communities. Within the this Idea that I developed I decided to look as how light is made up from pixel of colour is varying brightness, I think visually it is an effective solution however the event is not digital and therefore lacks relevance to the actual event as most of the light we be created using analog formats.
Our original name was Lux, taken from the meaning of the word Lux and it relationship with Light. The lux (symbol: lx) is the SI unit of illuminance and luminous emittance, measuring luminous flux per unit area. It is equal to one lumen per square metre. In photometry, this is used as a measure of the intensity, as perceived by the human eye, of light hat hits or passes through a surface. It is analogous to the radiometric unit watts per square metre, but with the power at each wavelength weighted according to the luminosity function, a standardised model of human visual brightness perception. In English, "lux" is used in both singular and plural. The new concept for the name trio was taken from the Calder Valley itself and the three focal area's that participate in the Winter Light Festival each year. The three villages are Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden.
