The printing of the packaging went extremely well. Having partaken in many a packaging brief over the three years on this course, this was most realistic packaging that I've/we've produced. After speaking with James a while back using the laminator to laminate the packaging was a brilliant idea. It gave the packaging a more rigid feel as well making it feel more realistic of how the packaging would be professionally produced. We also applied gold vinyl to area to create the illusion of a gold foil, this also worked productively. Furthermore a happy coincidence was that once laminated because the vinyl was raised it appeared as if the gold vinyl was also embossed.
Next began the process of crafting the packaging from the printed nets which started with cutting out the outer net, as we could only print on a single side as the double sided printing would not align we could only print the outer net and not an lines over the packaging, this did become a problem when we needed to score areas etc.
The solution we developed to this problem was the print a vertically enlarged version which was also flipped oppositely, of the net and then align the ruler with this net and then score the packaging, this ended up working well.
